Wildflower Waltz

"Some brides bring an idea. Some bring a feeling. Isabel brought both, and this dress practically designed itself."

Description

Isabel had a clear vision - her bespoke dress was going to have blooms! And, importantly it needed to be ceilidh proof!

From our very first meeting, I knew this wasn't going to be a gown that sat quietly in the background. It needed to feel joyful, relaxed and full of personality - just like the bride herself, and the outdoor setting.

Together we chose a beautifully embroidered floral tulle for the bodice. The flowers looked as though they'd been scattered across the fabric rather than stitched into it, giving the whole dress a wonderfully soft, romantic feel. We discussed different sleeve styles and Isabel chose elegant bishop sleeves finished with rows of tiny buttons at the cuffs - one of those little details that I always think makes a dress feel truly special.

The skirt, though, was where the magic really happened.

Knowing there would be Scottish dancing at the wedding, I cut a full circle skirt to a practical ceilidh-friendly length. I also knew that Isabel planned to wear heels for the ceremony and then something lower and dance friendly for the evening. It sounds like a small decision, but it's exactly these details that bespoke bridal is all about. Every seam, every measurement and every decision was made around Isabel, her wedding and the way she wanted to enjoy her day.

Seeing the photographs afterwards was everything I'd hoped for. As Isabel and Phil led friends and family from around the world through The Dashing White Sergeant and The Eightsome Reel, the skirt came alive - swirling, spinning and moving exactly as I'd imagined while it was still spread across my cutting table.

Creating a bespoke wedding dress is never simply about fabric and thread. It's about getting to know the person who'll wear it, understanding how they want to feel and then quietly stitching all of that into the finished gown.

Working with Isabel was an absolute joy from first sketch to final fitting. Her enthusiasm was infectious, her laughter filled every appointment and she trusted me completely throughout the process. That's a privilege I never take for granted.

Seeing her photos at Glen Clova in a dress that existed nowhere else in the world made every stitch worthwhile.

Congratulations, Isabel and Phil. Thank you for letting me be a small part of such a wonderful day. ❤️
