Meet Beverley Tricker
The woman behind the stitches
Walk into Tricker Bridal and you’ll probably find me with a needle in one hand, a vintage sewing pattern the other and a story about my favourite designer Ian Stuart on my lips.
Part designer, part detective and part hopeless romantic, I've built a small Aberdeen salon with a big heart – one that celebrates individuality, craftsmanship and a healthy dose of humour.
My journey didn’t begin in fashion, and took her through a career in teaching before running my own PR agency for more than 20 years.
But, throughout my life I've had a curiosity … some, including my husband would say, an obsession – with fabric and sewing.
I'm the person that can’t resist a forgotten roll of lace or a crumpled 1960s pattern envelope. That curiosity grew into Tricker Bridal: a space where brides can find gowns with character, whether bespoke creations, sample treasures or true vintage originals.
"I’ve always loved the idea that a dress can tell you who someone was and when a bride chooses one, she adds her own chapter to its story."
And that’s why I launched a curated collection of sample and preloved wedding gowns which has grown to an average of 200 gowns on the rails at any given time.
My bespoke gowns are designed and made on site – a rarity these days – and every stitch carries my signature mix of precision and fun.
I'm just as happy re-imagining a 1970s boho lace number as I am cutting a sculptural contemporary gown in vivid silk mikado.
Each dress has a story, a spark and sometimes a cheeky nod to the pop culture of the decade that inspired it.
"I’ve always believed that a wedding dress should feel like you – not a version of you you’ve been told to be"
The true vintage collection is another labour of love.
I carefully restores original pieces from the 1950s to the 1990s, bringing them back to life for modern brides who want authenticity, sustainability and a touch of nostalgia.
“There’s something magical about seeing a bride step into a dress that’s already lived a life. It’s sustainable, yes – but it’s also soulful.”
The result is a bridal studio that feels refreshingly personal. No conveyor-belt appointments, no pressure sales – just honest advice, laughter, and the joy of helping each bride find something that feels unmistakably her.
"If you’d like to visit, bring your ideas, your questions – and if you’re nervous, that’s perfectly normal. I’ll pop the Prosecco and we’ll start from there."
Whether I’m sketching a bespoke gown, restoring a 1960s mini, or helping someone fall in love with a sample they never expected, my aim is always the same: to make that moment in front of the mirror feel real, effortless and unforgettable.
Tricker Bridal is based in Aberdeen, Scotland and specialises in bespoke, sample, preloved and true vintage wedding dresses from the 1950s to the present day.
