Seychelles - Ian Stuart

I have a lot of Ian Stuart dresses through my hands, but every so often one arrives that stops me in my tracks. Seychelles is one of the best I have ever seen.

The entire gown is covered in the most glorious embroidered lace, worked with tiny sequins that catch the light without turning her into a glitterball. The fitted, boned bodice has a scalloped sweetheart neckline, while the lace sweeps diagonally across the body before opening into a beautifully balanced A-line skirt.

And then there's the train.

It is enormous. The lace continues far beyond the satin underskirt, leaving great areas of sheer embroidered tulle around the edge. Laid out behind the dress, it is quite breathtaking – and very Ian Stuart. He never seemed particularly interested in the concept of just enough.

Seychelles is an unworn Ian Stuart original, complete with her original tags and in immaculate condition. She originally retailed for £4,000.

There is also the matching Ian Stuart veil available separately, should you fancy going the whole hog. Frankly, with this dress, it would be wrong not to!
