Sapphire Gem - Sophia Tolli

I have a real weakness for a wedding dress that does something unexpected with colour, and this one has gone straight to the top of that particular list.

The beautiful deep blue floral lace starts densely across the fitted bodice, scattered with beads, pearls and crystals, then tumbles down over that enormous white skirt. Underneath it all is a fine layer of sparkle, so even the spaces between the flowers twinkle as the dress moves.

The shape is properly bridal. A deep V neckline at the front, a beautifully fitted waist and then a great sweep of skirt and train. Turn around and there’s another lovely detail: the bodice becomes sheer at the back, with the blue flowers framing a row of tiny covered buttons all the way down the centre.

There’s something a little blue-and-white china about the colour combination – but translated into a big, romantic wedding gown with rather more sparkle.

For the bride who wants colour but still wants to look unmistakably bridal, I think this is an absolute cracker.
