This is one of those dresses where the fabric is doing all the decorating – no lace, no beads, no sparkle required.

The fitted bodice is beautifully constructed from overlapping folds, wrapping diagonally across the body before opening into that fabulous fan-like detail at the neckline.

 The sculptural draping continues at the waist, where a generous folded flourish falls over one hip.

Then comes the skirt: full, sweeping and wonderfully clean, with layers of soft white fabric creating plenty of movement and volume without adding embellishment.

There’s something rather couture about the whole thing. I particularly love the combination of a very feminine ballgown shape with all those sharp, deliberate folds around the bodice. It’s unusual, beautifully theatrical and certainly not a dress that disappears into the background.
