Description
I first met Isabella at Your Wedding Exhibition in January and, almost before we'd started talking, she told me she wanted flowers on her wedding dress. Not flowers added as an afterthought, but flowers that felt as though they belonged there from the very first sketch.
That was all the inspiration I needed.
I created the bodice from beautifully embroidered floral tulle, letting the stems and blooms tumble naturally beyond the waistline. Rather than ending abruptly, the embroidery drifted onto the full charmeuse circle skirt so it looked as though wildflowers were growing across the dress itself.
To balance the softness of the floral design, we finished the back with a corset fastening. Not only did it create a beautiful silhouette, it echoed the organic feel of the gown with olive green lacing that Isabella added tied in perfectly with the embroidered stems and delicate waistband.
Every bespoke dress should feel unmistakably like the bride who wears it. Isabella's certainly did.
When her photographs arrived, they made me smile from the very first one. Sunshine, confetti, wildflowers, laughter... they captured exactly what I'd hoped this dress would become. Elegant without ever feeling formal, romantic and made for celebrating every moment.
There's one photograph where Isabella is simply laughing with her bouquet in her hand, completely lost in the joy of the day. As a dressmaker, that's my favourite kind of wedding photograph. It's the moment a bride forgets about her dress altogether because it has become part of her.
From our first conversation at the exhibition to seeing her walking hand in hand with her new husband beside the river, creating this gown was an absolute pleasure.
Congratulations, Isabella. Thank you for trusting me to stitch your love of wildflowers into every seam. 🌸
