Lady of the Manor - Original Vintage Gold Silk Wedding Dress
The Tudor influence is unmistakable in this original vintage wedding dress. It's a fabulous example of traditional dressmaking, with a beautifully fitted bodice, a wonderfully full skirt and enough gold silk to satisfy the most demanding Tudor courtier.
The bodice is made from a richly patterned floral silk brocade in soft gold, with a gently scooped neckline, broad shoulder straps and carefully shaped seams. A contrasting panel of plain gold silk runs down the centre front, finishing in a deep point below the waist. The little shaped peplums at either side are particularly lovely and give the bodice that distinctive Tudor silhouette.
The skirt is made from a substantial, beautifully textured ivory/gold silk, generously gathered to create a proper ballgown shape. It comes complete with attached net petticoats and an underskirt designed to accommodate a hoop, so you can achieve the magnificent proportions the dress was originally intended to have.
There's no designer label, but the quality of the materials and workmanship suggests this was made by a very accomplished dressmaker, quite possibly for an individual bride. The attention to detail is excellent.
The photographs don't do the colour justice. This is a beautiful warm gold gown, in quality fabrics.
A wonderful original vintage wedding dress for a bride who appreciates historical fashion, exceptional craftsmanship and the pleasure of wearing something genuinely different.
