Golden Haze - Mark Allan - True Vintage

The early 1990s were having quite a love affair with historical fashion, and Mark Allan clearly wasn't going to miss the party.

This original two-piece is a particularly good example of the period's bridal design. The long, pointed basque corset is beautifully constructed, with broad straps, carefully shaped panels and an elaborate scrolling brocade in warm gold. The pattern is woven into the fabric, giving it a wonderful richness without a bead or sequin in sight.

The long pointed basque waist is wonderfully characteristic of early 1990s bridal design, with a definite nod to the historical fashions that were enjoying something of a revival at the time.

At the back, a full corset lace-up provides flexibility in the fit, while the pointed waistline is repeated to lovely effect.

The ivory silk skirt falls straight beneath the corset, its simple shape providing a perfect contrast to the patterned bodice. It's a combination that allows both pieces to shine without competing with one another.

The skirt is labelled UK size 10 and the corset UK size 12. There is sufficient seam allowance in the skirt to allow it to be let out to a size 12 too by a dressmaker, providing some additional flexibility in sizing.
