Frost and Feather – True Vintage
Some dresses arrive and you just know they’re special — and Frost & Feather absolutely is. This is early 1970s winter bridal glamour at its finest: a brilliant white satin damask dress with its own hooded coat. And not just any coat — a full-length, sweeping, sleeveless coat edged in soft white marabou that genuinely made me smile when I unpacked her.
It instantly made me think of Lulu on her wedding day to Maurice Gibb (watch the Pathe News clip here!) or Dame Judi Dench looking quietly beautiful on her own snowy wedding day. (Thanks to some more Pathe News archive you can see the blushing bride here too).)
The coat does most of the talking, but the dress underneath is just as lovely — round neck, clean A-line skirt and long sleeves trimmed in the same feathery marabou. Those bell sleeves are a moment all on their own. It’s dramatic, but not in a shouty way… more in a “this bride knows exactly what she’s doing” kind of way.
Pieces like this almost never survive in such immaculate condition, and very rarely in a modern UK 16–18. She’s bright, she’s elegant, she’s a tiny bit theatrical — and she is the winter wedding dream. If you’ve imagined yourself sweeping into a castle courtyard or a candlelit hall looking like the heroine of a 70s romance film… well, here she is.
