Fiji by Ian Stuart is one of those gowns that doesn’t shout across the room — but still gets all the attention.
This version comes in the most beautiful blush pink silk dupion (if you know your Ian Stuart then the colour is actually called taupe - but don't let that put you off!) , overlaid with silver-ivory metallic beaded lace.. It’s one of those colourways that photographs like a dream because of the subtle contrast and looks even better in real life — warm, romantic and just that little bit different from classic ivory.
The bodice is beautifully structured, with gentle ruching that sculpts rather than squeezes, and all the internal support you’d expect from Ian Stuart — proper boning, a built-in bra and that reassuring “everything stays exactly where it should” feeling. The neckline sits elegantly just on the shoulder with a soft scoop, and the trumpet skirt and train flows from a fitted, ruched empire bodice into a clean, refined silhouette.
At the back, there’s a zip fastening finished with buttons and loops — a small detail, but very Ian. Originally retailing at around £1,950, this is couture-level construction without the couture-level price tag.
Preloved, yes — but in excellent condition, and still every inch the designer gown it was when it first left the salon.
Beverley says, “The blush-and-silver colourway is incredibly flattering on real skin tones. It’s one of those gowns you slip into and immediately stand a bit taller. Quietly special — which, honestly, is my favourite kind.”
