Femininely Floral

Beverley Tricker

“Who says bridal has to be ivory? Sarah went full bloom – embroidered tulle, duchesse satin and a floral burst that stopped the show.”

Description

White and ivory may be the mainstay of the bridal world – but there are no rules. Sarah proved that beautifully with her floral embroidered gown, romantic and radiant, showing how nature’s palette can be every bit as bridal as white silk.

Her gown combined a structured duchesse satin off-the-shoulder bodice and underskirt with layers of embroidered floral tulle. The effect was sumptuous yet airy, vibrant yet delicate – a gown that felt both feminine and fresh. Sarah finished the look with an organic bouquet in complementary tones, echoing the garden-like detail of the dress.

What makes her gown even more special is how it came to be. Sarah originally came to me for a lace bodice with sleeves, possibly tea length. Then she saw another dress in the salon that used this very botanical fabric in the bodice, and everything changed. The sketches were redrawn, the lace was put aside, and the flowers had their moment. That’s the beauty of bespoke – it can change direction the second inspiration strikes.

The finished gown was a true showstopper, but more importantly it reflected Sarah’s own style, her personality and her love of the natural world. And yes, without giving away too much, let’s just say the garter matched the theme perfectly.

Captured by J Dyer Photography at Norwood Hall Hotel, Sarah’s wedding was the perfect showcase of how a bespoke dress can evolve into something unique – a piece of couture that tells her story, in full bloom.
