Blushing Bride

Beverley Tricker

“Pretty in pink? Try powerful in blush – Laila’s gown was duchesse satin, sequins and pure personality.”

Description

Radiant, effervescent and full of life – that was Laila from the moment she walked into the salon. She had a picture of her dream gown in her head from day one, and it was my absolute pleasure to bring it to life.

Her vision became a breathtaking creation of blush pink duchesse satin under soft ivory tulle, topped with a delicate illusion bodice scattered in beaded and sequinned lace motifs. The design evolved as we went – what began with a scoop back gradually transformed into a completely backless gown, giving her the perfect chance to showcase her intricate tattoos (which grew in number with each fitting!). It was even a first for me: fitting a bride wrapped in cling film to protect her latest ink from marking the fabric.

Laila’s mum was there every step of the way, adding to the joy of each appointment. Together we also dreamed up a bespoke jacket in vibrant chartreuse, finished with collar and cuffs in fiancé Joe’s tartan – a brilliant, personal touch that made the look even more special.

And then there was the veil. I sourced a cathedral-length masterpiece in ivory, sprinkled with blush embellishments, to complete this unforgettable ensemble. When Laila walked down the aisle at Pittodrie House, she truly was the blushing bride – bold, beautiful and completely herself.

Her wedding, captured perfectly by Lauren Polson Photography, reminds me exactly why I love creating bespoke gowns: every one is stitched with personality as much as with fabric.
