Azure - Ian Stuart
Azure is one of those Ian Stuart gowns that doesn’t behave like the others. Before you even get to the shape, it’s the colour. It's a soft, silvery-grey duchesse satin fabric on top and silk chiffon on the bottom - so it moves beautifully as you do. Not too obvious, not too theatrical, just mildly outstanding. You don’t see it often, and that’s exactly the point.
The bodice is where Ian Stuart really showed off his design skills. Long, ruched and beautifully controlled (as all his gowns are) it draws the eye down the body in that very deliberate Ian Stuart way. It shapes without squeezing, lengthens without trying too hard and gives you a feeling of being properly held in. (I know, I have a few of his evening gowns!) It’s clever design, not decoration.
From there, everything flows. The skirt builds with movement and volume where it’s needed, but it’s the line through the torso that really defines the whole look. That balance - between structure of the bodice and softness of the skirt - is what he always got right.
Azure is for the bride who wants something a little off-script. The skirt is long so may suit a taller bride but can be taken up too
And, if you like Azure, but want to amp up the volume and intensity then check out Cote D'Azure, Laduree, Etienne, Cabaret,
