They planned to exchange vows on the very spot they got engaged—Loch Coire an Lochain, nestled high in the Cairngorms, at an altitude of 997m above sea level. The location, known as one of the highest named bodies of water in the British Isles, was breathtaking. Their ceremony would be conducted by a close friend and fellow climber, with a reception to follow at the elegant Muckrach House.
Emma needed a wedding dress as unique as her wedding plans. The brief? A gown that could balance elegance with practicality—one that could survive the hike to the ceremony and still shine at the reception. I couldn’t wait to get started!
The dress we created together was an elegantly classic piece in silk-feel crepe, chosen for its lightweight yet durable qualities. The fabric was perfect for being carried up the mountain in a dress bag without creasing or losing its shape. Its understated glamour came from the diamante trim and the gown’s timeless silhouette.
The dress featured a soft, flowing train that initially made Emma consider—how would it work for a mountain wedding? We considered shortening it but instead opted for a bustle. This allowed Emma to easily gather the train for both the hike down from the ceremony and dancing the night away at the reception.
At Muckrach House, Emma’s gown transformed seamlessly from mountain-worthy to dance floor-ready.
Creating Emma’s gown for her mountain wedding – and meeting her lovely mum - was an absolute joy. Emma and Razzak’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their adventurous spirit, and I loved playing a part in it.
These images were captured by Paul Mavor who climbed with the bridal party. He describes his style as cinematic wedding photography ... and I couldn't agree more. Stunning images.
If you’re planning a wedding in a unique location and need a gown designed with both beauty and practicality in mind, let’s make it happen together. Every bride deserves a dress that’s as exceptional as her story.
