Delicate Petals

Delicate Petals

The 3D element of the fabric was key for Katrina. Knowing she really wanted individual flowers with depth and texture she'd been dress shopping but was only ever shown dresses with flowers within the fabric pattern and not 3D flowers.

So even before we met, the key question was 'can you source fabric with 3D flowers?'

That was an easy question to answer and I was able to show Katrina, her mum and her sisters a range of fabrics to choose from.

Katrina's dress is a delicate tulle fabric embellished with the all important flower details. A boned corset with a low back was then covered with the fabric petals all sewn on by hand. Pearls in five different sizes were an added detail adding to the depth and texture of the bodice, yet keeping a light and etheral look.

A hip hugging skirt flares out in a soft swirl of flowers - 3D flowers of course! A custom decorated veil completed Katrina's look.

I loved making this dress for Katrina, although I can admit to being very nervous to hear the final verdict from her younger sister who kept me on my toes!!
